The Conference on Latin American History

Founded 1926 — a century in the making

Where historians of the Caribbean and Latin America gather.

The CLAH is a professional association devoted to encourage the diffusion of knowledge about the Caribbean and Latin America through fostering the study and improving the teaching of Latin American history. The CLAH is a non-political, autonomous, incorporated, tax-exempt, and non-profit society affiliated with the American Historical Association, although membership in the AHA is not a prerequisite for joining the CLAH.

Our Purpose

We believe the history of the Caribbean and Latin America belongs to everyone who is curious enough to ask — and that scholarship grows richest when it is shared, taught, and made welcome across borders and generations.
